About the Opportunity:
A well-established construction company is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead a brand-new wood frame multifamily project in Providence, Rhode Island. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned construction professional looking to take on a leadership role with a respected organization known for delivering high-quality residential developments.
Position Summary:
The Superintendent will oversee all aspects of this high-density residential project, working closely with construction leadership to coordinate and supervise trades, manage schedules, and ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience from the multifamily construction industry and demonstrate exceptional organizational and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating with building officials and inspectors to schedule required inspections and tests throughout the project lifecycle
- Identifying potential project risks related to safety, scheduling, site conditions, and subcontractor performance, and recommending effective solutions
- Supervising assigned trades and monitoring subcontractor work to ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality standards
- Preparing comprehensive punch lists and ensuring completion of all items prior to inspections and final acceptance
- Developing and maintaining project schedules to track work progress and completion milestones
- Leading weekly safety meetings and subcontractor coordination meetings, maintaining accurate meeting minutes
- Reviewing construction plans to identify and resolve conflicts, errors, or inconsistencies
- Verifying critical dimensions and layouts to ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable building codes
- Maintaining organized project documentation in accordance with company standards
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in multifamily construction is required
- Proven track record of successfully managing subcontractors and coordinating construction activities
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Procore construction management software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding of construction procedures, building codes, and trade-specific work
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes including handicap accessibility, fair housing, ANSI standards, waterproofing, environmental/AQI requirements, and acoustics
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities
- Superior organizational and time-management skills
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- First Aid training and certification preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: Up to $190,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Performance Bonus: Up to 10% annually
- Vehicle Allowance: Monthly truck allowance provided
