Position Overview

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for industrial construction projects, working closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors. This office-based role requires a strategic thinker who can analyze project specifications, assess risks, and develop competitive, accurate bids that support the company's growth in the industrial market.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for industrial construction projects from conceptual through bid phases
• Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work and required resources
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing
• Conduct quantity takeoffs and perform detailed cost analysis for materials, labor, and equipment
• Identify potential risks and value engineering opportunities throughout the estimating process
• Collaborate with project management, operations, and business development teams on estimate development
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations
• Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating systems
• Lead bid strategy development and provide input on project pursuit decisions
• Mentor junior estimating staff and support their professional development

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
• Minimum 7-10 years of estimating experience in industrial construction
• Proven track record of successfully estimating and winning industrial projects
• Strong knowledge of industrial construction methods, means, and materials
• Proficiency with estimating software and tools (experience with industry-standard platforms required)
• Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
• Thorough understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and industry standards
• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with manufacturing facilities, processing plants, distribution centers, or similar industrial projects
• Knowledge of design-build and construction management delivery methods
• Professional certifications (CCE, PE, or similar) a plus
• Established relationships with subcontractors and suppliers in the Houston market
