Position Overview
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for industrial construction projects, working closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors. This office-based role requires a strategic thinker who can analyze project specifications, assess risks, and develop competitive, accurate bids that support the company's growth in the industrial market.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for industrial construction projects from conceptual through bid phases</li>
<li>Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work and required resources</li>
<li>Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing</li>
<li>Conduct quantity takeoffs and perform detailed cost analysis for materials, labor, and equipment</li>
<li>Identify potential risks and value engineering opportunities throughout the estimating process</li>
<li>Collaborate with project management, operations, and business development teams on estimate development</li>
<li>Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations</li>
<li>Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating systems</li>
<li>Lead bid strategy development and provide input on project pursuit decisions</li>
<li>Mentor junior estimating staff and support their professional development</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred</li>
<li>Minimum 7-10 years of estimating experience in industrial construction</li>
<li>Proven track record of successfully estimating and winning industrial projects</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of industrial construction methods, means, and materials</li>
<li>Proficiency with estimating software and tools (experience with industry-standard platforms required)</li>
<li>Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications</li>
<li>Thorough understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and industry standards</li>
<li>Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy</li>
<li>Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Experience with manufacturing facilities, processing plants, distribution centers, or similar industrial projects</li>
<li>Knowledge of design-build and construction management delivery methods</li>
<li>Professional certifications (CCE, PE, or similar) a plus</li>
<li>Established relationships with subcontractors and suppliers in the Houston market</li>
